Dill

Anethum graveolens

The leaves and seeds of dill are aromatic and are used to flavour many foods including soups, salads, breads, party dips, fish dishes, and of course pickles (where the dill flower is sometimes used). Dill is best when used fresh, as it loses its flavor rapidly if dried. However, freeze-dried dill leaves retain their flavour relatively well for a few months.

Growing Healthy Plants

This herb’s main requirement is well-draining soil, with a slightly acidic pH of 5.6 to 6.5. If you are working with clay soil, work some compost into it, or consider growing in a raised bed or in containers.
